The Czechs did not win their opening games.

The Czech men entered the World Championship against the Americans (skip Wald). The match, with no visible developmental breaks and dominance of one of the teams, subtly went into a phase where we needed to throw one to try two against on the extra end in the last end. The Americans may have played a little better, but we also had chances, although we were under pressure more often than not. The women held out hope of a win against the Japanese until the eighth end, when, after a few inaccuracies, we finally got three down. In the ninth we lived on deuce, but the Japanese happily pulled away. In the end, the Japanese didn't let the win be taken away from them. The level of the teams is generally good to very good. The French and the Danes can be considered weaker. The Scots, Swedes and Norwegians, Canadians, Swiss and Swedes look good. The Czechs are now battling Denmark. the score is 3 : 3 after 6 ends. you can watch at http://www.worldcurling.org/wjcc-2011-web-coverage (it's no longer there)
