Alžběta, Michaela, Aneta and Zuzka flew to Oslo to kick off the 2024/2025 competition season. And a little further on, a number of other excellent curlers and curlers. Six lanes, a small club with a dartboard, a restaurant, another club area and several technical rooms all make up the complex, which is connected to the tennis courts and other sports facilities. The Czech women's national team arrived in the Norwegian capital a day early to take advantage of the ice at another venue, the Bygdøy Curling Club. This is a much smaller club. Only two lanes. In the club room connected directly to the bar there are lots of historical photos, objects referring to the achievements of the Norwegian national teams and also a thermos of coffee offered by the club president Christian. The training is pleasant, everything works perfectly, the icemaker asks us if we are satisfied and at the same time apologizes for minor shortcomings, which we don't really notice. A beautiful and pleasant experience. But we are slowly approaching the first match. Our opponents are the Norwegians, specifically a team we play regularly - Skaslien, Roervick, Nordbye and Roenning. The first end is a blank, then we score twice with one. In the fourth, the Norwegians hit a four, and we hit a three in the seventh. An accurate draw by Skaslien in the eighth end sends the match into extra end, in which we play a double to win, but only one of our opponent's stones disappears from the rings, so the Norwegians take the win. We're sorry to lose, but the performance is promising and we're looking forward to a trio of games tomorrow.
