the atmosphere in the hall was amazing
rnIt wasn't easy to come together in 80 minutes for the next game. The opponents were professional women from Russia. Our team showed a very good game in the opening game, where we forced Sidorova to throw a draw against a three after the first blank end and a nervous Russian skip was long. Our good play continued until a communication error offered the Russians a three to go up by two. We managed to level after a tactically very well managed game, but went into the last end with no advantage. Although we basically didn't make any mistakes, the Russians cleared the space in front of the rings after good clearings (sorry for the expression). Anička played the last draw behind the corner guard and Sidorova lost her nerve and played a draw to him. Klara did her best to clear the Russian stone and there it is!!! We are happy as if we have gold medals. We are ninth overall with the same score as the eighth place Germans. Behind us are the Scots, Danes and Latvians. As we finished last in the hall, we received a thunderous applause and the girls became the stars of the evening. Lots of admirers, autographs, photos, invitations for drinks. We were praised on Canadian TV (TSN), Russ Howard and Earl Morris personally congratulated us on our good performance. Ninth place in the world is the best ranking of the Czech women's national team so far. Congratulations girls, you have done a great job and besides the three wins you played another very balanced matches that could have ended with your victory. Czech curling has its excellent ambassadors. Thanks to Anna for some key stones and confident game management, without her the team would not have its typical game expression. Thanks to Klara for taking the responsibility of working in the rings and managing her health problems. Thanks to Terka for standing up to some tough moments and stepping up at the right time. Thanks to Bětka for her very good performance and team spirit and thanks to Verča for her reliable, careful and unobtrusive work for the team. Girls, it was a great experience for me too. Good luck!!
