Asian curling is based on perfect technique.

We were well aware of this fact before the match against Japan. The perceived weakness of the team representing the Land of the Rising Sun at this year's World Championship is the inability to throw quick take outs, as well as less flexibility when the opponent changes tactics or in less common situations. All of this was more or less evident in the end, but mainly the Czech team (with Martina at number one) played very well in the first half of the match, both tactically and technically. We had a few weaker moments in the second half, but God help us, they didn't cost us the win. Yes, the Czech team got its first win at the WJCC 2009. Over Japan 8 : 4. Then there was the evening, or rather night training, which was only about preparation and reading stones for tomorrow's match. Back to the hotel for a well deserved sleep after a long day. Before the evening round there was an opening ceremony complete with roll call, Scottish band, stylish drummers on giant drums, singing of the Canadian national anthem and the requisite speeches. Our guys were in the front row. photo: drummers, entrance
