Saturday was the same as Friday in terms of scheduling, only the opponents were different. First up was Team Kim of Korea, who boasts an Olympic silver medal. The second and last opponents in the group were from Sweden, the team skipped by Isabel Wrana. Both duels were similar in some ways. We played a solid opening game and forced our opponents to make a few mistakes, but we were unable to build a lead or really put any significant pressure on them. We did have chances at deuces and threes, but it would have meant playing heavy stones successfully, which we didn't do, and most importantly, our opponents were able to play exceptional stones in those moments and push the momentum to their side. The Koreans defeated us 6 : 4 and in the next match it was directly about advancement. In case of a win against Wrana we would go to the playoffs, because our DSC was one of the best. In the end the Swedes beat us, but the match was evenly matched, contained difficult game situations and was very attractive for the spectators. So we didn't make the playoffs and we are packing our bags to go back home. The evening quarter-final brought a surprising loss for the favourites - Tirinzoni, who fell to another Swiss team (Schwaller). The semifinals are staffed entirely by teams from Korea and Switzerland and will be played tomorrow at 9am. We'll be on our way home by then.
