Brewster was scared.

The mostly defensive game had an interesting conclusion. After the Scots had scored a one without advantage in the eighth end to go two ahead (not even a perfect last stone by J. Snitil prevented it - it really couldn't have been better, there was a three behind the centre guard), we were glad for the one in the ninth. The tenth end looked for a long time like a good chance for us, but Skip's first stone gave us only one instead of two opportunities to finish. Brewster, after much discussion with the team, preferred to switch so as not to complicate the situation. We played an uneasy draw behind a pair of freezed (sorry for the monster word) and zaguarded (sorry again) stones. Our throw was decent - a little better than our opponent's, but practically uncovered by the guard and only a little behind the aforementioned pair of stones. Brewster, however, panicked and missed! The Scots in the stands (several dozen fans) sighed in disappointment. Extraend. Two successful chips and a final draw to four feet were the instruments that led the Scots to a close win (5 : 4). Ulsrud outplayed Edin 8 : 5 on the aces, with one end even having to be replayed after much haggling between teams, skips, coaches and umpires. When I find out the details, I'll post them. And another secret: there are doping commissioners wandering around!rn
