Czechs on their way to a medal

The Czech mixed team today took an important step towards winning a medal at the European Mixed Team Curling Championships, which take place this week in Kitzbuhl, Austria. After important wins against Latvia, Wales (last year's champion) and Scotland in this afternoon's match against the Swiss, the Czechs won in extra end 5 : 4. The decisive moments came in the sixth end when Swiss skip Moser could not convert the pressure his team managed to create, then in the seventh end when the Czech team played a deuce after measuring and then in the eighth end. The situation became more complicated after the Swiss had two of their stones in the rings and everything was pointing towards their win. Jiri Snitil chose to freeze to his opponent's stone in the back circles for his first stone and the risk paid off. Despite the fact that the Czech's stone was not perfect and Moser had a chance to have even three stones in the circles, he made a mistake and saved an extra end for the Swiss with his last stone in the endgame. The Czechs managed the extra end perfectly and after the win the Czech Republic is now top of their group.
