In one hour's time, two traditional rivals will face each other in a battle for the 2009 World Junior Championship. The Italians, somewhat surprisingly, succumbed to the French when it was still likely that there would be at least an extra end in the last end. In the second match the Czechs were better than the Germans. Templinova did not play several important stones accurately enough and Kubešková with her precise double clearing prepared an excellent position for the final take out. In the men's event, the teams of Scotland (after their win over France they are now in the World Championships) and the Russians confirmed their quality by beating the Latvians in a controlled manner. Both matches were characterised by the visible higher quality of play shown by the winning teams. The French will play the Russians for the second promotion place. The photo shows a happy Anna.
