17.11.2024,

There's going to be a change. The weather.

Slightly snowing and a few degrees lower temperature. We mostly walk to the arena because the (paid) bus stops are not ideally located to make convenient use of local public transportation. So we are keeping an eye on the weather to be prepared if there really is a change. During our morning match (from 8am, training from 7.30am) the club was running a broadcast of the match from Lohje between the Swedes and the ultimately more successful Swiss, and we watched the result of our match against the Italians on the "bench" on the neighbouring track. The Czechs lost, but obviously after a fight. After nine ends it was tied thanks to a three in the penultimate end and finally a loss by a single point. Statistically, the boys are in the middle of the field after two games, which is promising for the future. The women played against the Dutch (Bomas). The relatively young Dutch team played a very decent match and gave us a solid fight in some phases, especially thanks to a good back-end performance. There was a threat of an extra end, which would have been played with our advantage, but Vanessa Tonoli's draw was a bit longer and the Dutch did not reach the necessary deuce.

According to the schedule, we had the English (Fowler) on from 6pm. This time we didn't get the advantage until the start because the English were more accurate than us. The opening caught us a little unprepared for the accurate play of our opponents, but we gradually improved until we took a one point lead after a three in the fifth end. The decider came in the eighth end when we hit the English girls with a four after a blank in the seventh end, followed by a one. 9-4 is the final score. After one third of the regular season, we have three wins. But we're staying alert so we don't get any surprises. It's snowing and blowing outside and that's the only thing that's a bit unexpected so far.
