This afternoon's games belonged to the women. The playoffs were played and also for the retention in the elite group of the European Championship and for the participation in the next World Championship. The Czech women already knew their fate, after a year they will return to the second performance group. The last opponent of Anna Kubeskova's team were the Italians, led by Olympic gold medalist Constantini. Our athletes were aiming for their first win on the extreme track and a valuable scalp of the Italian Olympic team. We didn't get the advantage of the last stone for the first end, but we took on our opponents fiercely. At some points it was necessary to perform extraordinary throws to keep up, but as both teams were doing well, the score remained even. We went into the last end two points down and needed to play a deuce for the extra end, or rather an outright deuce for the win. A few excellent throws gave us a hopeful situation and Anna completed the three-point gain with a final push of the Italian stone to win 7-6. With this win, the Czech women's team completed its performance rise, but it came too late. Again there was a problem with technology, which unfortunately did not pass us by this time either. From two o'clock in the afternoon, the Czech men played against a young Danish team (Schmidt) and bid farewell to the championship with a narrow 6 : 7 loss. The superstructure part and the fight for the medals will immediately follow. But by then the Czech men and women will be home.
