Meanwhile, the Curlingers have postponed a decision on the length of the championship match.

The final day of the Congress, which always includes the so-called General Assembly of Delegates, called the Annual General Assembly (AGM), gave a hint of the direction that world curling will take. The path of more and more meetings. The Norwegian proposal to shorten the matches from ten to eight ends brought a fair amount of nervousness to the assembly. It was probably the most debated topic across the board by all arcs. A solution was found and not found in the form of a compromise on a sort of one-year grace period. This will still be broken up into smaller sections separated by discussions between representatives of member countries at the championships that await us this season. Somewhat painfully, the process of transforming the system of qualifying tournaments for the Olympics has been completed to include the so-called Pre OQE, which will be an open tournament for anyone who still wants to slip into the Olympic program at the last minute. The current number of member countries is likely to grow further. More and more exotic countries are going to play curling. The Dominican Republic, Kuwait and India will become provisional members. The fact that our sport is moving in the right direction and has the necessary momentum was confirmed by a standing ovation from the Congress participants, which embarrassed the current President Kate Caithness. The next Congress will be held in St. Petersburg.rnrnPhoto:rnrnAnna Kubešková, WCF Athletics Commission memberrnrnKarel Kubeška, participant - observer
