Curling packed weekend.

The first half of September is almost over. It's usually the very beginning of the curling season. Some halls are just opening, others are still waiting to open. But the Olympic season speeds things up, and so the curling hall in Roztyla has been fully operational since mid-August, and the one in Zbraslav is not slowing down either.rn

World Curling Tour (WCT) - Mixed Doubles competition was held in Zbraslav and the first place was won by the Czech pair Zelingrova/Chabičovský after a balanced and exciting final, played against the Chinese tandem Wang/Zhang. The varied tournament had pairs from nine countries, including five Czechs. The WCT also had an all-women's tournament scheduled at the same time, played in Basel, Switzerland, where two Czech women's teams traveled. The winner's trophy went to the Swiss curling superstars - the Tirinzoni team.rn

The teams had to relatively quickly solve the vacant weekend date with an alternative programme. The choice fell on organizing two one-day tournaments. The Saturday one was a bit experimental, namely a Doubles tournament, played according to Mixed Doubles rules. After four wins it was dominated by the Paul pair and took the first prize. The second place went to the girls from Liboce (Baudyšová, Pařízková), the third place went to the Slovak boys. Sunday belonged to the eight teams that entered the classic curling tournament. The demanding schedule containing four matches almost immediately after each other was best managed by the men from Liboca (Kubeska, Jirounek, Bodlak) and they took the first prize. In the final they beat Dion Alpha (skip Jakl). Third place was defended by Dion Young Boys (skip Kobian). Very good ice conditions, a friendly and functioning restaurant and a curling packed program started the competitive phase of the 2025/2026 curling season.rn
