Day 8 WWCC 2007

The Czech team gave hope of winning Olympic points with a sensational 8-6 victory over the Swedes. Hana Synáčková knocked out the half-covered stone of the Swedes with her last stone and the Czechs did not let Anette Norberg into the semi-finals of the World Championships with this win! After the seventh end, Lenka Kučerová withdrew from the game due to nausea, and the match with Scotland was heading inexorably towards a loss. With Michala Souhradová not in ideal condition, we are not the favourite for the evening match with Sweden. Anette Norberg and her team declassed the Italians in the afternoon match. The Swedes need a win to have a chance for the semi-finals, we need a win to get Olympic points. Support the Czech team by email or text!! At 8-2 after seven ends for Canada we gave up the game. Today's day is probably significant mainly because of the adoption of the new text of the curling rules. There are almost no major changes, but there are dozens of minor changes and clarifications. Our players have two tough matches, first the Scots, who seem to be heading for the semi-finals so far, and in the evening match the Swedes, who started the championship very confidently but have not fared well at all in the last two days, losing to the Swiss, the Germans and the Danes.
