It was necessary to win against the USA in order to keep an eye on other results for placement. The start was not good, we got subtly for three and then came back only for one. The next end was very aggressive on our part and it paid off. We scored a four against our opponent's advantage. The next run was all about the Americans trying to play something and us trying to prevent it and fight something out with the advantage ourselves. The ending was a heart attack. After eight ends of one up with the advantage, we got into a situation where we could play deuce but it required a precise shift of the opponent's stone. Our attempt was so unfortunate that we turned our possible deuce into our opponent's very close one. In the last end, skip Hamilton played her last stone as a perfect guard and we were longer on the draw. Considering other results we could have been sixth with a win and this way we are in eighth or ninth place with the Japanese. Taking the ninth end into account we were about three or four inches away from an excellent result. The era of one generation of our junior girls is coming to an end. Thanks for raising the quality of junior curling (participation in four worlds) belongs to Anna Kubeskova and Tereza Pliskova. Eliška Jalovcová has had two worlds and Martina Strnadová even three. Thanks to you both for the great representation. This year for the first time we had to be really reckoned with and our results were balanced and maybe we just lacked a bit of luck to be higher. Curling is a sport and that's the way it goes. You don't always get paid for your work with success. So good luck for adult curling girls and good luck to Pavla Proksikova and others at home for the next World Championships. photo: Terka and Anna
