Disabled curling in Prague Na Roztyle.

The weekend of May 8-10 was reserved for a test competition for disabled curlers at the Roztyly curling hall. For many years the Czech Curling Federation has been striving to expand this winter sport among other groups of disabled athletes. At the moment, Paralympic curling is only for wheelchair curlers and therefore only this category will be included at the next Paralympic Games in Vancouver 2010. In agreement with the World Curling Federation and the European Curling Federation, the CSC, in cooperation with the IPC and the CPV, has prepared a workshop for interested spastics, visually impaired and other athletes with disabilities. The aim was to present curling and create background materials for a specialised seminar on curling for the disabled. With the participation of WCF Vice President Kate Caithness, ECF President Andrew Ferguson-Smith and ECF Vice President Jeanette Johnson, the three-day event was a great success, thanks to the dedicated work of assistants Petr Slavik, Milan Korbel, Zuzana Hajkova, Tomáš Bouc and Tomáš Rendel.
