Yesterday evening was marked by the meeting of the participants of the seventh WCF Congress on a boat called Budapest. A pleasant evening overlooking the sights of Budapest from the floating ship was full of interesting conversations, the link of which was, not too surprisingly, curling. The main topic discussed was the new planned format for the World Mixed Doubles Championships and it was stimulating to hear the views of the Scot, the American, the Irishman and others. It is probably a pity that the vote on this matter will not take place this year, as in twelve months time it will be known which associations are in the top sixteen or twenty and the vote may be influenced by this. A surprising amount of time was spent on the issue of gender equality in terms of percentage participation in the Winter Olympics. Statistical information confirming the increasing number of women was part of the presentation, but not only that. There were also figures on the higher viewership of women's games than men's games from the Olympic Games. 97.5% of tickets for the women's Olympic tournament were sold, which is an astonishing figure. Information regarding the upcoming European Curling Championships in Tallinn, Estonia was impressive. It looks like it will be a nice event with a friendly atmosphere, which is mainly taken care of by young players and curling enthusiasts. It's not far away, so I believe the Czech teams will have plenty of fans in the stands.
