The first opponent on the opening day of the Fall Classic tournament for the Czech women was the Inglis skip team. The opening deuce played with an advantage was replaced by a deuce played without an advantage. This set the tone for the match, in which we did let our opponent back in a bit by allowing a three, but a deuce in the seventh already meant a three point lead. Solid defensive play in the eighth end ended the match before the skip stones. We made the somewhat uncomfortable three hour break more enjoyable with coffee and macaroons, a mole walk and a board game. The next opponent was a team we didn't even know by name - Froud. We started the extremely slow match with zero goals, then went into the lead. We went into the eighth end one up with no advantage. However, the Froud team was able to capitalize on the advantage perfectly and despite an excellent final attempt by the Czechs, they scored the necessary deuce and won a close victory. Tomorrow we will face two more opponents - the Canadians and the Japanese.
