28.11.2014,

We know the final pairings.

In the men's event, it's the Swedes and the traditionally a bit "tired" Norwegians. In the women's event, the Russians are back in the final after a very good performance against the Danes and the Swiss (Feltcher) will be waiting for them. The bronze in the men's event goes to the Swiss (Michel), although they sweated it out against the Italians (Retornaz, Mosaner). In the women, the Sktoks (Muirhead) have a medal. They were better than the Danes (Nielsen). Challenge games for the world in the first round were won by Finns and Estonians. Estonia's Turmann was unsportsmanlike in not awarding the Norwegians an extra point in an ending in which both Estonian stones came out of the rings after a double take-out and the Norwegian unluckily stopped one with her foot, which Turmann looked right at and immediately started gesticulating that their stone would stay there. After a debate with the umpires, the rules ruled in favour of the Estonians, but the aftertaste remained. It reminds me of something. I was at the Group B coaches' meeting, where Bohac and Vojtuš, the two Czech coaches who led the foreign teams in Group B, were absent. On the other hand, D. Rafael was present, but he pretended not to know me and ignored me the whole time!?!? Nothing exciting came out of the meeting, except perhaps that for next year the Czech women will have to enjoy B service. And that's a bit of a change from the last four years.
