Searching for ice.

It's not easy to find an ice surface to play curling on these days. In fact, one might even say that it is difficult to find any way to play curling at all. With the closure of indoor sports grounds and the ban on training or sporting activities, we curling players are, in sporting terminology, 'fed up'. The only viable solution, by which we do not violate any valid regulations and at the same time fulfill our training resolutions, turned out to be to travel to Sweden, specifically to Karlstad. This medium-sized Swedish city has a figure eight track, where many years ago I coached one of the leading Scandinavian teams in the final tournament of the Swedish championship. Turns out it would be no problem to get on the ice there! We quickly made arrangements in Prague and with the assistance of the federation, we flew out for the stages so we could train and not be without ice for an inordinate amount of time. The warm welcome, the possibility of two-stage training and the confidence of the head icemaker of the local rink in the skills of our ice specialist Misha made for a nice mix in which to work.
