rnFor tournaments played in Wetzikon we use standard accommodation in the sports hostel, which is part of a large sports complex with an athletics stadium, football pitches, two ice hockey and skating rinks and a curling hexagonal. The housing is simple but clean, functional and is a few hundred metres from the curling rink. The first game of the tournament is scheduled for Friday before noon and the opponent is Team Italy (Zappone). There is a ten minute practice session with two LSDs before the game and we get the advantage. It's a bit of a shaky start, but we soon catch on and gift our opponent a four, which they can't quite get out of until the end of the game. The win is encouraging and we can rest for a while before the match against the Germans (Jentsch). The evenly matched duel has its first climax in the seventh end when Danielle plays a hit and roll against a four and eventually gets one for one after the measurement, going up by one stone. In the eighth we hold a two in the rings for the final win, but with her last stone the German moves her guard into the ring for the best and we miss a hit and roll to win by a whisker. So we have a 1-1 score after Friday and tomorrow morning we have Schori.
