Isabelle Wranå is a twenty-seven year old skip of her women's curling team (Panthera), with whom she has achieved significant success at many world tournaments, both as a junior and adult. Her brother Rasmus is the number two in Sweden's most successful team in the long term, led by captain Niklas Edin. But the Wranå family is not only these siblings, currently world champions in the mixed doubles category, but also their father Mats, who is a senior champion and successful coach. The Swedish siblings dominated this year's championships with ten wins and suffered only one defeat, that was in the regular group match against Scotland. Rasmus was the highest performing player in percentage terms (84%) and his sister finished second among the women (80.9%), behind the quite exceptional Kadriana Lott, who played over ninety percent in six of the nine matches, with an overall average of 88.4%. Swedish host city Östersund disappointed with a meagre crowd, despite the fact that the senior championship (over 50 category) is traditionally played alongside the World Mixed Doubles Championships in both categories. The strategy of combining these two sporting events for the sake of mutual spectator support proved to be obviously quite foolish. The seniors did not fill the spectator areas and did not create the necessary atmosphere. So what the cameras took up, and the TV viewers watched on their screens, were often just completely empty stands. Sportingly, however, everything appeared to be flawless. In the final, the home Swedes (Wranå , Wranå) beat the Estonians (Kaldvee, Lill) and the bronze went to the regulars in this discipline, the Norwegians (Skaslien, Nedregotten). The Czech pair (Paulová, Paul) finished 16th, with the Turks, New Zealanders, French and Spanish qualifying. This year's competition season ended with this event.
