The journey of the Czech teams to the venue of this year's European Championships began at Václav Havel Airport (fee paid) with the national team meeting at 1:30 pm. This time was no different. Three hours later we found ourselves in Vienna. The end of the short flight to the opposite side of the world from our destination was marked by unusually strong turbulence, but thanks to the absence of refreshments, it was not fatal. Continuing the journey with a fairly pleasant flight from Vienna to Copenhagen made more sense. However, we missed our scheduled train to Helsingborg, so we took the next one and had a snack at the Danish airport at an outlet of the French chain Pret a manger. After a seventy-five minute journey, we were greeted at the train station in Helsingborg, Sweden, by an old friend, Jan Rydheim, who years ago had arranged for me to meet my sporting role model, Swedish hockey goalie Leif Holmquist. The hotel was a short walk from the station. We are looking forward to a good breakfast and have to organize everything tomorrow. The city seems interesting at first glance and somehow Nordic-nice.
