Saturday's only game.

Saturday's May weather in Calgary brought not only showers, but also another win for the Czech team. Their opponents were the Estonians. We had our first red stones today, and that meant our first practice. We expected the ice to be slower, but the difference between the first and second practice was bigger than we expected. The consequence was less accurate attempts in the Last Stone Draw. So the advantage went to the Estonians who were more accurate. Nevertheless, the beginning belonged to the Czechs. After three ends we were 3-1 up and had the advantage. However, the fourth end brought an improved play of the opponent and we chose a weaker moment. Although we still held the lead, or at least the advantage when the score was tied, we were still down a stone after nine ends. A bit nervous end of the match, when the Estonians didn't have much time for the last stones, we turned a good tactical approach into the necessary deuce to win. With only an evening training session today, we had a team meeting before dinner, and after the necessary testing on Covid-19, to evaluate the first quarter of the tournament. We came to the conclusion that we still have a lot of work to do. But that's what we came to Calgary for, so no groundbreaking findings.
