We are sponsored by Le Gruyere, and that's a good thing, because we love it.
rnThe men took the field for their first game this morning at nine o'clock and their opponents were the Slovenians. They secured a 6-0 lead in the first two ends and then after six ends it was 10-2. So a clear win and a nice start to the competition. The Turks' victory over the Danes could have been a surprise if the internationally experienced team of Rasmus Stjerne had played for the Danes, but instead there is the team of Joel Ostrowski, with the popular Danish icemaker Jorgen Larsen at number one. The Turks are now being tested by the Czech national team, as the Turks are the opponents for tonight.
rnThe women played against the Italians from 14.00. The ice runs at 13.8 and spins approximately 5 feet. We played a decent game. The team played at over 80%, but Diana Gaspari once again gave an outstanding performance and was the best on the rink with her 94%. The Italians were better on LSD and capitalized on the advantage in the second end with a three. We built some promising opportunities but failed to convert them. The three we needed to play the extra end in the tenth end, we could no longer manage in front of the stones of the Czech skip, and so we take our first loss. We play again tomorrow morning at 9am and again at 7pm the same day.
