The final matches in each group were different but more or less successful for the Czech junior teams. While the men clearly outplayed their Polish rivals, the women (skip Krupicka) drew after they finished ahead of the leading opponent. Three points were enough for both teams to reach the middle performance group. The juniors and junior women play their quarter-final matches tonight from 8.30pm and we are very glad they are not playing against each other. It is always sad when two Czech teams that normally train in the same - sprawling - hall, often side by side and on the same day, meet at an international tournament played hundreds of kilometres from home. The Lodz tournament already has a tradition of several years and the fact that it is scheduled at the beginning of the season increases its attractiveness for teams that need match load and targeted teambuilding. For two of the four junior national teams it is a welcome opportunity to fulfil their preparation plans. After the Brno team (skip Kadlec) lost their quarter-final match in the third performance group, the Czech men failed to finish a well-played match. And after the measurement, which turned out to be close for the opponents, even the junior women did not get out of the quarterfinal curse. All three Czech teams that played in this year's Bajbora Cup will therefore return to their rain-soaked homeland tomorrow. Have a safe journey.
