The juniors are going to the semifinals. DSC = 5,6 cm.

The Czechs won their last two matches in the group. The Netherlands actually got bad only in the seventh end. Until then, the team led by the Canadian-born coach looked rather resigned and had no recipe that could lead to a win. We were a bit scared of the impending victory and made a few mistakes and inaccurate guesses in the penultimate end. The score of 7 : 5 gives us a promotion to the semi from the first place in the group. We conceived the final match against the Poles as a test of our resilience and we chose a different tactical approach and changed our line-up. Until the break we were struggling a bit, but after the break the game was getting in order and despite minor problems with the ice (in the sixth end a "flatspot" formed near the middle of the lane, probably by repeatedly leaving the palm on the ice) we recorded a win 6 : 4. We will see how the second group will develop, but it looks like a tie-break. We will know the opponents later. For those who are not sure what a DSC is, just a clarification: before each game a draw (LSD) is played by one player of the team. The distance from the center of the rings is measured and the average of those distances from each game (minus the worst attempt) is the DSC. The result of the Czech selection of 5.6 cm is therefore excellent!
