Canada is a winner.

The winners of the World Junior B Curling Championships are the Canadians. They had the best mental and physical strength and dominated. Especially in the play-offs they presented themselves as a quality team with no visible weaknesses. Good scorers, reliable players, focused and trustworthy skip, clear game management and balanced risk management - these were the main assets of this team from Alberta, Canada. Their tough opponents in the finals were Team USA. The Danes took bronze. Fourth place went to the New Zealanders. Our unpopular Swedish team lost in the quarter-finals to Canada and it was a duel that was one of the best to be seen in Kisakallio. The organisers are to be commended, it was a completely seamless event, excellently managed in all aspects. The pair of icemakers, the main one being Mark Callan, worked perfectly and the ice was fabulous. The constant speed, the legible swing, the late finish and the functionality of the ice across the entire width of the course will probably be remembered with a tear in our eye for a long time. For the Czech juniors the preparation period for the next B championship starts in two weeks, in the new year, and hopefully they will all be able to capitalize on the experience gained this year in Lohja, Finland.
