Canada Mission 2019.

At the end of August this year, five Czech curlers and their coach set out to conquer Canada. Anna, Betty, Ežen, Pét'a and Míša will play four tournaments in twenty-three days, where world champions, Olympic champions or medalists, experienced champions and rising stars of world curling will not be missing. The strong line-up of European and Asian teams reveals that this season is shaping up to be a big one. Yes, the first Olympic points will be in play, and that will be at the World Championships to be played in six months. But you have to qualify for that, hence the rush. Our team's trip to Toronto was uneventful. The wait at the rental car place was offset by a better fleet arrangement, and the minor hassle of accommodation translated into a higher standard of living as expressed by the number of bathrooms and bedrooms. We had our first visit to the Oakville Curling Club, a meeting with manager Chris and our first practice session in the evening. The ice, through the window, looks great. Swing a bit over four feet, speed at 14.5 seconds, and a late finish (not to be confused with a Finnish latte). We are very excited and can't wait for the first real curling this season.rnrnphoto: in front of the curling club
