Q event

In the second half of April, Czech Curling planned a very special sporting event in which women's teams could enter provided that, in addition to the standard identification, they had met a quota of foreign tournaments played in the WCT category. Two teams completed the application form - Sokol Liboc 3 and Savona Praha H. The game was a big one, for the right to represent the Czech Republic at the pre-qualification and then possibly qualification tournament organized by the World Curling Federation for the two remaining vacancies in the ten-member starting field of the Olympic tournament. The Competition Committee has determined that whoever wins three of the five scheduled matches is the winner of the tournament and is entitled to the privileges given by the applicable regulations. Savona played her first two matches with Martina Strnadova at No. 1 and Zuzana Prazakova at No. 2. Hana Synáčková played the third stones and Linda Nemčoková was the skip playing the last stones. On Monday Karolína Frederiksen replaced M. Strnadová on one. The current national team skippered by Anna Kubeskova (second stones) had Aneta Müllernová on one, Michaela Baudyšová on three and Alžběta Zelingrová played the last stones. Karolína Špundová and Klára Pařízková were ready to play. In the end, only a torso remained of the planned marathon, which was to culminate on Tuesday morning. Liboc won smoothly in three consecutive games, and that was it. The Sokol girls thus gained a kind of "double", i.e. the title of champions entitling them to represent the European Championships in Group A, which they won in March this year, was supplemented by a ticket to a series of matches leading, if successful, to the Olympic rings.

The slight embarrassment, coupled with the uncertainty and minor inaccuracies that have accompanied the preparation of this embedded event, will hopefully lead to greater caution in planning the competition calendar, both from a purely sporting point of view and from an economic and organisational perspective.
