Summer camp 2024 in Nymburk.

The Summer Olympics are over and the 2024/2025 season has begun in earnest for some Czech curling teams. The three national teams have chosen the Nymburk sports centre as a place to fine-tune their training at the last minute. The weather conditions were a little less favourable this time. Temperatures soared well above thirty degrees and the athletes and their coaches had to change their planned programmes in view of the weather. The heat radiated from all surfaces, including the natural grass ones, and playing volleyball, netball, beach volleyball or football required extraordinary endurance and a carefully monitored drinking regime. Fitness swimming was a particularly popular activity, but badminton and indoor basketball were also good choices in the end. The women's national team, the junior national team and the men's "development team" (formerly the B team) spent a total of five days at the facility (the juniors only two) and even welcomed a nice visit from former successful national team member Terka Pliskova and her daughter Melanie. The end of the whole rich program was the speed tests, which took place in the sprinters' tunnel near the athletics oval, where we used to meet athletic stars such as Jan Železný, Roman Šebrle or Nikola Ogrodníková. Nymburk has always been an inspiration for us and this year it is also a solid end to the structured summer preparation. In the coming days, the women's team will follow the men's team, which played its first tournament (Baden Masters) with a record of two wins and two losses. The women will take to the ice first in Germany and shortly afterwards in Norway for their first competitive test of the year.
