Latvia - Czech Republic: 2 : 1 on lucky stones.

Another sunny morning. The differently lit mountains offer beautiful views. We set off shortly after breakfast for the match against Latvia. The start was better for the opponents. They were a little more accurate, we were perhaps a little more nervous. At the halfway point the score was 3-3 and there was no indication that the spectators would see some curling miracles. The first came in the sixth end when, after an inaccurately thrown stone, a couple of guards were hit so awkwardly for us that before the final stones there was a Latvian two instead of our well covered one. But the last stone by Stasha was well played and without any chance the Latvians took a two when we had taken a four before, having missed a split on the five by a whisker. We had a bit of luck in the seventh when I missed a take out and it was a pretty good runback. The highlight of it all was the Latvian stone at the end, which after a misunderstanding between the players just lightly tapped the guard, and after a roll out our stone went out and we were playing against a three. The Latvians finally tied it up at 7 : 7 in the eighth. We refined the draw, and that was enough to stop Anna from throwing the last stone. The big curling stone fell from our hearts. We are classified second in the group and play a tie-break with Poland for the top six. Thanks again for everyone's support. We are pleasantly surprised and a bit taken aback by the amount of supportive emails and texts. Thanks again.
