Waiting in vain for infrastructure.

Travel brings valuable lessons and sad realizations. For example, when returning from Austria, it is easy to see that the roads on our side of the border are generally more neglected and in worse condition than on the Austrian side. In the direction of Vienna, after passing through Mikulov, it can be seen that our possible motorway infrastructure will have something to connect to, but the reverse is not true. The work activity of construction workers on Czech territory is only evident during repairs on some sections of D1. Many kilometres of our first motorway are in a desperate state, so that only the brave who are not afraid to risk acute gunshot wounds or neck blockages drive in the right, rumble strip. Construction of new highways or roads is not going well, and a comparison of sections under construction or newly opened speaks strongly against us. Former transport minister Ťok claims that during his four-and-a-half-year tenure at the head of the ministry, almost nothing new could be opened because no projects were ready and the construction procedure took a long time. He somewhat forgets that his predecessor was his party colleague Antonín Prachař, who ruled transport and communications for almost another year. The aforementioned length and form of the construction procedure could certainly have been changed, as the relevant Ministry of Regional Development also had five years to do so. It has been in the hands of ANO since January 2014 and has been led by three ANO ladies in succession - Jourová, Šlechtová and Dostálová. There are two possibilities, either the management of state offices is not in the right hands or it is an unsolvable problem that even the most capable are not up to. However, we have already missed the most opportune moment for the construction boom. The government is already struggling with the worsening economic situation and is improving the first-quarter budget deficit by draining the privatisation account (18 billion). Neither Vojtěch Filip nor President Zeman disputes the engagement of Vladimír KREMLIK as the new Transport Minister. All the more reason to be cautious. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
