First on the agenda was the semi-final against Korea, who won our sympathy during the tournament with their correct behaviour and good play. We were cautious and tried to play it safe for most of the game, but after a double from our opponent to 3-1, we had to turn up the heat in the second half. The result was an unexpected deuce in the ninth end after a minute open take out by Skip Kim. So we went into the tenth with a 4 : 4 advantage. The Koreans handled the ending well, standing a few centimeters better than us in the rings before their last stone. So the dream of the final was gone. But above all we had to refocus and prepare for the bronze medal match within three hours. The British were waiting for us in the semi-final, having lost to the Swiss in the extra end. Once again, we took a more cautious approach to the game, and with five zeros and several more or less successful peripeties, the score after nine ends was 2 : 2 and we went into the tenth end with the advantage. The last stone of the match we needed to hit and stay. The stone after the hit was still going out of the ring for a while, but finally it stopped in the rings and the Czech euphoria reigned on the ice. Fans were chanting, players were hugging each other, some were crying, the Czech flag was flying. Just concentrated joy. The Universiade bronze is a huge success for Czech curling. Lukáš Klíma, Jiří Candra, Tomáš Paul, David Jirounek, Kryštof Chaloupek, Samuel Mokriš and Karel Kubeška contributed to it. Thanks to everyone who supported us and believed in us.
