The 2017 World Curling Championships, mixed doubles category, is the last chance to qualify directly for the 2017 Olympics. Zuzana Hájková and Tomáš Paul, along with coach Brad Askew, are in Lethbridge, Canada, for the Czech Republic. Yesterday they moved to the Days Inn hotel from Calgary where they tuned their form and acclimatized. Both adult/senior teams had Thursday as a travel day, culminating in an 18-seat flight from Calgary to Lethbridge. The time difference here is eight hours and is probably felt mostly by the seniors. Neznal, Hobzik, Létal, Kubeška, Slavík for the men and Vařečková, Neznalová, Macková and Měchurová for the women. I'm sitting at my computer at 4:00 in the morning, writing my first blog. We are all awake, on the phone via viber, skype, whatsappy, etc. At 6:30 we'll be first to breakfast. Of course, we are closely following the developments in St. Gallen, where our union's ornaments - the Kubeskova team - are doing well so far (two wins out of three games). We have today a free day, tomorrow training and then we'll get going. Mixed doubles are practicing today and playing tomorrow.
