Olympic mixed doubles competition is over. The medalists are known and everything is gearing up for the traditional, "foursome" curling tournament. Zuzana and Tomas lived up to expectations and placed in the middle of the table. Sixth place is an achievement and curling friends will long remember the nerve-wracking duel with Canada, which, although not crucial for the eventual promotion or non-advancement to the play-offs, showed what the magic of this category, only fifteen years old, is all about. The wins over Norway (later a silver medal), Australia, USA and China were a great presentation of curling to the audience, an inspiration for the younger generation and good study material for the coaches. Technique, communication, mental setup and tactical procedures are the calling card of the work of the implementation team and the records of the matches can serve as necessary motivational material for the followers. Thanks to Czech Television for providing curling experiences to sports fans. I think that the many hundreds of thousands of viewers are an expression of serious public interest and confirmation of the attractiveness of curling.
rnTraditional curling will not offer stones played by Czech players. Hopefully, at the next Winter Olympics, Czech curling will be represented in other categories. And of course, congratulations to Ester Ledecka for another gold. This lady with a bit of a curling name is phenomenal!
