The men are done, the women aren't done yet.

After a one-year break, the Czech men's curling team has again achieved great success. Not only did the five of Jiří and Martin Snítil, Marek Vydra, Jakub Bareš and Karel Uher defend Group A for next year, but thanks to the win over France, Czech curling will once again look "to the world", even for Olympic points. After the victory over the Gallic Rooster in the round robin, the Czechs were already enjoying qualification for the World Championships, but WCF rules put a tie-break against the same opponent in their way. The match confirmed the quality of our selection. The women played their first eleven-weekend match. The opponent from Hungary played much better than in the first match and was closer to winning after two periods of the match. A three-pointer in the eighth end should have kicked us into gear, but several problematic stones that offered chances to the opponent took the match into extra time. There, the Czech skip had the better nerve at the end and with the last stone secured the Czechs' participation in Group A for next year. She then realised the mistake and an awkward situation ensued, with Béres waiting to see if the Czechs would claim the stone to move it into the rings. The spirit of fair play easily prevailed - the Czech players did not think for a moment about gaining an undue advantage and continued to play. The direction of victory!
