In their first match today, the men defeated Japan. A good start, leading 4-1 at the half and then trailing after seven ends at 6-3. A solid performance, albeit with a little help from the opponent, gives us a second win and still an open chance for the playoffs. The weather is slowly getting worse. The forecast mentions snow and cold wind. However, staying at the Days Inn is pretty much insulating us from the outside elements. The spacious lobby with a pool and hot tub and the rooms designed as small pavilion apartments create an environment detached from the world. So we are often surprised by the nature of the weather after we leave the hotel. The food is truly American, and it's not easy to find something un-fried, un-burgers or ice-free. The people are nice and the atmosphere of the tournament is pleasant.
