Thursday, December 16, 2021 is reserved for the completion of the regular part of the Olympic qualifying competition. The Czech teams are not involved in the morning, but at 2 p.m. the Czech women will face the Korean national team, silver medallists at the last Olympic Games. All five players have the surname Kim, only the coach is named Lim. We are leading into the seventh end and are more than a match for the Asian stars. In the eighth end, we're buying errors and letting the Koreans hit a four, which Kim's skip safely converts. In the ninth end, we don't do too well either, and so a promising match ends with the Koreans winning. A surprise is born on the sidelines as the Turks defeat the Japanese. This causes an eruption of joy on the Scottish side, who, thanks to the confluence of results, take first position and thus qualify for the Olympics. The remaining two places will be contested by the Japanese, the Koreans and, surprisingly, the Latvians. In the men's event, everything was cleared up in the morning when the Japanese couldn't keep up with the Italian and the Dutchman succumbed to the Norwegian. The Czech men are now fighting for the chance to have two lives to go into the extra time, which they can do if they beat the Danes. After four ends, Team Klima leads 3 : 1.
