Both the men's and women's teams are already playing.

The ice surface has undergone a detailed inspection and modification, which will allow teams to spend ten or more ends on the ice. In terms of time, this is approximately two and three-quarters of an hour. In one match, on one lane, all players together, including pre-match training, play more than 250 stones, which is almost five tons of granite. That's a solid load for curling ice. The stones used in the Mixed Doubles competition are stored in transport boxes, and there are four other sets on the ice that underwent a stress test at the last World Junior Championships. The Czech men (Lukáš Klíma, Marek Černovský, Martin Jurík, Lukáš Klípa, and Radek Boháč) are direct participants in the tournament. Their opponents in the opening match were the Americans (Daniel Casper). The Czechs lost a promisingly played game at the very end, when a single point in the end with the advantage of the last stone, scored by the Americans, was enough to win 8:7. The Czechs' impressive performance, especially in the first part of the match, resulted in a two-point lead, which later evaporated, and with a double in the ninth end, the Czechs were only catching up. Marek Černovský shone in the match with a beautiful triple take-out and Daniel Casper with a confident runback for the final winning single. Today, however, the Americans lost to the Swiss, the Norwegians to the Germans, and the Swedes to the British. In the women's competition, the Swiss (over Italy), Canadians (over Denmark), and Swedes (over Japan) confirmed their roles as favorites. The Czech representatives have a doubleheader tomorrow, facing Norway in the morning and Switzerland in the evening.
