Although only eleven teams are participating in the tournament—albeit from eight countries—the match schedule must be spread over four days because only two lanes are available at the Bygdøy arena. We played our first match against the Swiss team (Müller). During the pre-match practice, we failed to secure the last-stone advantage, and we trailed our opponents right from the start. The decisive moment came when the Swiss scored four points after a series of inaccurate stones from both sides. The second match in our group closed out today’s schedule, with the opening throws at 8:00 p.m. For us, this was a fairly familiar opponent from Lithuania—a women’s team that has competed in the World Championships, and in recent years we’ve faced them at nearly every tournament. The Lithuanian skip is the experienced 54-year-old Virginija Paulauskaite, who played an excellent game and played a major role in her team’s victory. So far, we’ve suffered two losses. Emma played in the morning game, and Matylda replaced her as lead in the second game. Tomorrow we have a lighter schedule, so we’ll have time for the gym and a comprehensive team meeting. The match against the Swedish team (Mabergs) isn’t scheduled until this evening.
