At a training session between the Swiss and the Italians.

After last night's delicious dinner, we needed to make up for the sleep deficit caused by getting up very early. And so we went to bed quite early to be ready for today's rich program. Jirka Snítil moderated the meeting of the teams with the organizers. We also went through the usual folklore in the form of a question asked by the Dutch coach Sheri and a coin toss with the first opponent - the Swedes about the order of the pre-match training. Our specialist (Beth) lived up to expectations, and we were able to choose a more enjoyable second practice in the order. Considering that the five women's national teams of Switzerland, Czech Republic, Italy, Germany and Scotland were the first to test the new curling ice in the Lillehammer arena, we could have expected some surprises. However, Mark Callan (the main icemaker) did not disappoint and with his team prepared a more than usable ice, which gradually had good speed and decent spin. We mainly tested the stones on lane number one, where we will start the European Championships tomorrow morning at 9am with a duel with the Swedes. After a quick lunch, we had our own team meeting where we discussed everything important for the next few playing days. A short visit to the centre of Lillehammer presented the town as typically Nordic, with low-rise houses, a mix of modern and period buildings, Olympic references, shop windows full of pre-Christmas merchandise, as well as street stalls offering tempting discounts. As we have two games tomorrow, we're going to rest after dinner to be ready in the morning.
