rnAfter a rest, which followed lunch at Migros and a team meeting where we discussed all aspects of our play over the past two games, we met at a local fitness centre to prepare for the evening's duel with Germany under the guidance of Eva Kralova. Or rather, the girls were preparing their muscles for throwing and their cool heads for dealing with difficult situations. At 18,30 there was a practice in which we did not get the advantage of the last stone. The first end ended in a zero and in the second we forced our opponents to a one. Then we gained a textbook two with the advantage and then the German skip failed to finish against a three and we went into a decent lead. After the break, however, the Germans improved their game somewhat and conversely we faltered a couple of times. It was important to get a deuce in the eighth end. Anna's first stone (come around the long guard) was a save against the opponent's three stones, albeit placed in the back of the rings. Subsequently, Jentsch merely moved our stone and left her own in the open. Thus our deuce after Anna's accurate hit. In the ninth we added a single and so the tenth end was just a formality. A win is nice, but satisfaction is still a long way off. Two games tomorrow, one at 12 noon and the other at 8 p.m.
