The Nordic Tour series takes place just before mid-October in Jὅnkὅping, Sweden. The Czech women's team arrived on Thursday and in the afternoon they had a half-hour training session, which included the opportunity to try out all six lanes of the local arena, which is part of a large multifunctional sports centre. The tournament is called the Match Town Trophy and is part of the Czechs' preparation for the European Championships in Scotland this November. The men's part of the tournament started in the evening, while the women's part starts early tomorrow morning. The ice looks good, spinning at about four feet and the speed is at 14.5 sec, hog-hog. Importantly, the stones have a "late finish", i.e. they spin significantly at the end of their path, allowing players to play a creative offensive game based on draws, guards and small shifts. We are looking forward to quality ice and good opponents.
