New name.

Matt Dunstone is the skip of the new Canadian national team, which will defend the red and white flag with the maple leaf at the upcoming World Men's Curling Championship. We know this because the final concluded the traditional curling festival – this year's Canadian Brier. The Olympic gold medalists, Team Jacobs, finished in third place. Team Koe, which had won all its games in the regular season and playoffs, failed to make it to the final. After many years, the title belongs to a 30-year-old skip who is younger than most of his opponents. The winning team was still full of experienced players in their forties, this time surprisingly in the front end (first and second players). The Harnden brothers (2014 Olympic gold medalists), known as the "Brush Brothers" according to commentator Vic Reuter, played a great tournament, and E.J. Harnden, who is retiring from active competition, could not hold back his tears during the final stone. Curling Canada made it possible to watch all rounds of the championship, which was played this year in Saint John's, eastern Canada, online (YouTube). It was worth watching. The otherwise very good team skipped by Mike McEwen did not make it to the playoffs, while two lesser-known teams skipped by King and Calvert surprisingly did. Compared to the very poor attendance at the American championship played at the same time, a large number of curling fans came to the arena, creating an excellent sporting atmosphere. It was possible to observe new trends, tactical approaches, and advanced techniques, both from the throwers and, perhaps even more significantly, from the sweepers, who often performed at the limits of their objective capabilities. Matt Dunstone and the Colton Lott trio are long-time teammates who have also met with Czech juniors, specifically in Sochi, Russia, during the 2013 World Junior Championships, and with Czech university students in 2015. In both cases, Dunstone won. In 2013, he defeated Marek Černovský, and in 2015 (WUG, Granada, Spain), he defeated Kryštof Chaloupka.
