Five hundred spectators.

About five hundred spectators are watching the opening round of the 2022 Women's World Curling Championships, which pits the home Canadians against the Italians, the Swedes against the Turks, the Czechs against the Americans and the Koreans against the Norwegians. The atmosphere is amazing. The main announcer calls out the names of the players, the flags of the participating countries shine on the sidelines, a friendly mascot wanders among the spectators, Czech fans sit in the stands, cameras are everywhere and the central cube shows a live stream of the main match. Our match is one of the matches with a clear course. We succumb to the Americans 2 : 9 after eight ends. It was a televised game with microphones, an audience and the atmosphere probably overwhelmed us a bit. After the game we do a little analysis and evaluate, among other things, how much we were affected by the new rule that is being tested in this championship. It is the so-called "no tick zone". At first glance, it doesn't seem to be a big impact on the tactics of regular ends, but it does have an effect on spinning ice. We have to adapt to it. We have a doubleheader tomorrow, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
