The Czech women are taking part in the 2022 World Curling Championships, starting tomorrow, March 19, in Prince George, Canada. It was not originally planned, but everything changed with the exclusion of the Russian team due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Czechs were forced to sit out the world qualifier, played in Finland in January. Two positive PCR tests were to blame. And so it seemed that the international part of the season was already closed. But the twelfth place in the world ranking was finally the decisive argument for the World Curling Federation to add the Czech team to the thirteen-member starting field. Alžběta Baudyšová will be the skip at this top sporting event. She will replace the traditional captain Anna Kubešková. Anna is going on maternity leave in the next few weeks and will support her teammates from home. The national team also includes Petra Vinšová, Michaela Baudyšová, Klára Svatoňová and Lenka Hronová. The coach is Karel Kubeška. The first opponent on Saturday afternoon will be the Americans.
