After half a year, the tournament again!

Twenty teams played curling in the Roztyl hall again (after half a year). The starting field was thinned out somewhat compared to what was expected and Covid 19 caused that only Slovenes and Poles arrived from abroad. Four Czech women's teams and three junior teams were also part of the triple knock-out system. Most of the participants were affected by the long game break and training. However, they all showed great effort and joy to be back on the ice. The arena was originally supposed to be opened - according to the promise of the federation's management - in mid-August, but technical difficulties caused by unknown circumstances resulted in a delay of almost four weeks. In the end, an icemaker from Slovakia had to be called in to set up the ice surface and give a basic briefing to the newly assembled technical team. Players and players struggled with the pitfalls of frosted edges of the lanes, disappearing pebble and many flat-spots, but at the same time appreciated the solid speed and reasonable spin of the stones. The teams of Zbraslav (skip Lukáš Klíma) and Sokol Liboc (skip Anna Kubešková) made it to Sunday's final. The men's national team won the tournament, but the heroes were the women of Liboc, who won the scalps of several men's teams and shone with a determined and focused performance. Congratulations to Lukas, Mark, Jirka and Sam. Recognition to Anna, Bětka, Petra, Ežen and Míša. The quality of both national teams is confirmed at the beginning of the season. Thanks also go to the brave organizers who managed everything even in difficult conditions.
