Polky.

We received information that the Czech men had lost to the Swedes, but of course we were fully focused on our first match. Our opponents are the Polish women, led by experienced coach Brian Gray. We have our first training session because we did not win the lot that decided the order of training. It's usually better to have the second one because the conditions under which the teams take those second nine minutes of preparation are closer to those that will prevail for most of the game. With two better Last Stone Draws, we gain an advantage for the first end and start this championship offensively. We score with a one and the Poles return the favor. In the third end we play very accurately and we are in a promising position before the last stones, maybe even on five or six. Skipka Lipinska knocks out two of our stones with her last throw, but we match on five and take a promising lead. The Poles close the gap a bit further and even play a three in the seventh end after our mistake. But we get a three back in the ninth end and the score stays 11-7 on the scoreboard until the end. An important and pleasant victory. After the end of the round, we talk with the umpires about some of this year's innovations and agree that some changes are not in favor of the game and inappropriately interfere with the players' trained habits. Since we missed lunch, we substitute dinner at a popular Thai restaurant. Everyone will go to bed early because tomorrow we play against the Dutch (coach Kleibrink, well known to us from Tallinn) from 8am. Only Karolína and Karel still have indoor duties - evening training.
