Inheritance and curling.

At first glance, there seems to be no connection, except for what is evident in the photograph. Despite all this, there was quite a bit of talk about curling at the book launch for POZŮSTALOST (Waldes Literary Center in Vršovice, April 29, 2026). At least ten participants in the ceremony can boast of having either current or historical personal experience with curling. People who contributed to the development of curling inthe administrative sphere, founded and led curling clubs, or represented the Czech Republic in various categories, joined several dozen others to listen to Jakub Musil, Karel Kubeška, and Martin Machovec discuss the newly published book. Several questions from the audience concerned the author’s connection to curling, and a few comments referenced his work as a commentator for Czech Television. The support shown to the author by the Czech women’s national team was both pleasant and symbolic. By attending, the Czech curlers (Aneta, Míša, Karolína, Klára, and Anna) unexpectedly became something like the Fates standing over the cradle of the novel published by Epocha, wishing the book good luck and as many satisfied readers as possible. The prose itself contains no mention of curling, which is certainly no obstacle to its appeal to potential readers. Perhaps quite the opposite. In this context, visitors repeatedly suggested and requested that, six years after the publication of the book CURLING, lesk i bída, a new publication on this sport be created. The question remains: what kind of book on curling could appeal to a broader sports audience?
