Prague Classic 2019.

The international curling tournament, which was attended by a total of 22 teams, was held from Thursday to Sunday in the first decade of November. Eight Czech teams tried their luck against teams from Slovenia, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Latvia, Finland, Russia, Switzerland, Italy and Scotland. Compared to last year, the reduced prize money ultimately discouraged not only last year's winners but also other quality European teams from participating. Despite this, there were some good performances, especially from the Scottish junior teams who came first and third. Sandwiched in between them, as in last year's event, was the Polish team in second position. The tournament was also a test for the Czech men's national team, who will defend their national colours in a few days' time at the 2019 European Curling Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden. The Czechs made it through the preliminary group without a loss, but succumbed to the enthusiastic Poles in the quarter-finals. The TV coverage, which this time was technically provided by a Latvian company, included a total of nine matches. However, the fight for the podium positions was completely without Czech participation. The best result of the Czech teams in both editions of the Prague Classic remains the fourth place of the Kubesek team from last year. For me personally it was nice to work with Jirka Kalemba again after some time. The environment in which we spent long hours together was extremely cold, but it did not remove the warmth from our comments. see photo
